A win for Trump and Crisis Management

Crisis Management is one of the most exciting aspects of Public Relations.

It is built around the idea to turn an obstacle into an opportunity.

Opinions aside, the Trump political PR team are VERY good at doing this.

So, incase you’ve managed to avoid the US Presidential Campaign dramas, I will bring you up to speed.

Donald trump’s wife, Melania Trump delivered a speech on the first night of the Republican National Convention. The speech was supposed to be about her values and her husband’s political journey. However, it didn’t take long for the media to notice the similarities between Melania’s 2016 speech, and Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic Convention speech.

See below:

So, what do you do if you are Trump’s PR team right now?

Deny claims? Accept defeat? Avoid the allegations?

No no and no.

You turn this obstacle into an opportunity.

The media release by Meredith McIver who is the ‘in-house staff writer at the Trump Organisation’ has truly set the bar for PR professionals.

Her response to the claims are below:

What does this make you think?

Regardless of my views of Trump and his political views and values I must say – they have absolutely nailed it.

There you have it – obstacle into opportunity. If Trump can do it – so can your organisation.
