Who would have thought? Millions of people across the country have just filled out their census form online – only to have the site tell them it can’t accept their entry. GROUND BREAKING. Twitter erupts and the Census fail memes begin, all in all it wasn’t a bad night for crisis management..
Here’s a look at Census Australia and their response so perhaps their biggest FAIL ever.
The ABS tweeted late on Tuesday night that the site would not be coming up again for their big night of nights.
Yet despite numerous assurances that the system would be stable, and various threats of fines if the census is not completed, the system has, predictably, crashed!
MIND BLOWN. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.
So come on guys… who decided that the internet based system was a ripper idea?
“Oh well, keep trying I guess, hopefully I’m in bed by midnight!” – said every Australian.
But the Twitter stream of abuse continued into the night (which was far more amusing than watching The Bachelor at this point)
So, Census has slightly redeemed itself there announcing there would be no fines for not completing the Census after August 9. Well done crisis management team!
A spokeswoman from the ABS said work was happening to try and restore the service.
“We have experienced an outage because of everyone logging in at the same time,” she said.
“We’d ask people to wait a few minutes and log back in.”
