My education journey wasn’t always smooth sailing.
Believe it or not, I actually started out in psychology.
I get asked quite often – what made me change from psychology to communications?
When I had completed my undergraduate degree in psych, I knew I wanted something much more (read about that here)
I actually took a year off and travelled around Europe and the UK for 5 months, this gave me a lot of time to think.
When I came home I saw a careers adviser immediately.
I already had an idea that comms was the field for me, but I needed assurance that it was going to be ‘ok’ to change my mind.
If you are like me and are unsure of what you want, see a careers adviser today. If you are from Melbourne and need someone in the South East or Bayside area contact me here privately and I will send you the details of who I saw.
Here is a link to my course outline at my university.
This includes what subjects I take, my specialisation, the cost and duration of my entire course!
Any questions? Comment below! I love hearing about the pathways people have taken to their dream job/careers.

i am glad you started out with psychology but i’m even happier you choose communications. I studied communications at a private Nigerian University and I haven’t regretted it. It just has a way of giving you so many opportunities. I hope you enjoy every minute studying it.

I started then quite psychology too!
I did 2/3 of my psychology/marketing double major in Perth, then moved to Melbourne! Doing that helped me secure a job in marketing, while I started my new double major (PR/literature) externally 🙂
